Norman DeCastro Liberty of the Seas Overboard

Norman DeCastro, 39, from the Philippines was a Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Liberty of the Seas bartender. He jumped overboard at 0130 hours on Monday April 24, 2017 while the cruise ship was in the Gulf of Mexico

The father of two daughters, spent the last 13 years working 7 months at a time aboard cruise ships to earn money to send home to his family in the Philippines.

Working 16 hour days mostly for gratuities from the cruise guests and sacrificing time away from his family in order to earn enough to give them a better life.

Liberty of the Seas departed from  Galveston, Texas on Sunday April 23 for a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise with calls at Cozumel, Mexico, George Town, Grand Cayman and Falmouth, Jamaica before returning to Galveston.

His brother, from Seattle, Bob DeAgazio, set up a Gofundme page for the family. This case has been added to the Cruise Ship Deaths website
