Carnival Cruise Line Carnival Glory March 8, 2014
Cameron Smook, 21, from Virginia, went missing aboard Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Glory, Sunday, March 8, 2015 while the cruise ship was on a Caribbean cruise in the Bahamas, near Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas.
Cameron Smook was a Virginia Tech student, a senior majoring in mining and mineral engineering. Smook was scheduled to graduate from Virginia Tech this spring.
According to Carnival Cruise Lines spokesperson, surveillance footage shows Smook deliberately climbing over the cruise ship railing and falling into sea. Carnival Glory searched for Smook and was joined by Carnival Ecstasy and the United States Coast Guard (USCG).
The Coast Guard Cutter Bernard C. Webber and two aircraft searched more than 4,700 square miles over three days.The USCG called off the search on Tuesday night.
Since he is now presumed dead, the case file has been moved to the Cruise Ship Deaths website.
